If you grew up in the 80s or 90s, then you might remember M.C. Hammer pants (aka clown pants). These were popular among the bodybuilding community, because they were comfortable and baggy with elastic waist-bands. So, a juiced-up muscle-head with a 27″ waist and tree-trunk quads could wear them comfortably. Muscle mags everywhere were covered in mullets and clown pants—it was great.
The Replacement of Bodybuilding With Healthy Living
Today, most people have graduated from a desire for gargantuan quads (and biceps) to a goal of living a more holistic, wellness lifestyle. Clown pants have been replaced with skinny jeans, and guys sticking each other in the glutes with GHB have been replaced with people like Joe Rogan advocating for healthy testosterone replacement, and topical testosterone deodorant sticks for men with Low T.
The Cult of Wellness
Mindfulness has also grown by leaps and bounds as a lifestyle choice. People used to call that good manners. Times have changed, but some things have stayed the same. Wellness advocates have cult-followings who read virtually every wellness book in print. Certainly this is better than the cults of the 70s, as people have replaced Kool-Aid fueled mass suicides with mindfulness retreats to exotic islands and corporate mushroom trips.
